Common Apartment Plumbing Problems and Tips to Fix Them

Plumbing problems are quite common in apartment buildings – leakage, clogging, or just about anything. Putting your plumber on speed dial is a good option but if you learn a few tricks then you don’t have to rely on one every time there’s a leakage. To help you out, we’ve listed a few common plumbing problems along with tips to fix them:

Leakage

Faucet leaks are pretty common in every Apartment. Leakage should not be just overlooked as gallons of water goes to waste. It can even cause damage to floors, walls, and furniture. To fix leakage, check for loosened connections and tighten them with thread tape which will act as a barrier that stops the leaks. In the case of faucets, it’s often the rubber washer inside them that causes the problem. Check to see if it’s worn out and fix it at the earliest.

Clogging

To learn how to fix clogging, you must first understand what causes it. It can be caused by so many things. Drain clogging can be caused by dust or food particles in the case of a kitchen, toilet clogging is much often caused by anything unwanted thrown in there (toilet paper, napkins, etc.) and as for bathrooms, hair clogging is pretty common. It’s always best to keep a toilet plunger at hand to deal with clogs as the pressure created by the plunger frees the clogs. Most of the clogging problems get easily resolved by this.

Contaminated water from pipes

Much often you find dirty water flowing when you open the pipes. If you find this pretty often then it might be because of the rusty pipe in your Flats. In such cases, it’s best to replace the pipes at the earliest.

Low water pressure

Clogged aerators are the main reason behind low water pressure. Check your hot and cold water pipes to see if they’re both affected. If they are then fix, clean, or replace your aerator.
